ABOUT US

Art+Works Too calls
Buffalo, Wyoming, nestled at the foot of the ever wondrous Bighorn Mountians, its home.
Our "home" is in the center of Buffalo's Historic Downtown District.
The home we share is located in the 1892 Shaver Block building that is listed on
the National Register of Historic Buildings. In back we have built a beautiful
Outback Sitting Spot and Sculpture Garden for you to sit and relax over a wonderful cup of
one of our sustainably grown organic coffee drinks or to write a long letter to a friend
you have not seen in a while or make up with your lover over missing dinner last night or
just sit with us on Sunday mornings for buddhist vipassana meditation. Or whatever
... it's just a great place to hang out!
The art we show is intended
for all kinds of collectors, and all levels of pocket books. Art is a part of all our
lives and the artists in our community enrich us all in so many ways. This is a place for
them to express themselves, and for the rest of us to get to know them and their work
better in a comfortable atmosphere. We only show contemporary Native American art because
doing so supports LIVING traditions and discourages the rampant trade in illegal Native
art through grave digging and desecration of burial grounds.
Art+Works Too is not just for
the visual arts. We invite and welcome the performing artists in our community to use this
space. On Summer Friday nites we have Country Gospel Jams and all are welcome to
join in! And on many Saturday nites we feature local Accoustic and Blues musicians.
Then on Sunday evenings we have a local jam that we host here for the Buffalo
International Folk Music Gathering -- a group of local musicians who play a variety of
folk music and welcome visitors to join in or just listen. And all are welcome
to bring their voices or other instruments to join in ... or just come and listen!
Please, check our events calendar for the latest news on musical events here at AW2.
We hope the poets and singers and playwrights among us will continue to take
advantage of this space and offer performances here.
If you have ideas for using
Art+Works Too in some creative way, please, let us know. Or if you are a travelling
artist, musician or scholar and would like to give a workshop or performance ... drop us a
line! If you want to teach art classes in back, or have a speaker come in (no
politics please) or know of an artist you would like to have us show or demonstrate their
craft, we would love to hear about it. We cant do everything, but there is a whole
lot we can do and would love to do.
Art+Works Too is also giving
back to the regional and local community through the specialty coffee we sell here. We buy
our coffees from a company that imports sustainably grown coffee. Home Sweet Home proceeds
help support the good deeds done at the Family Crisis Center on Main Street, and proceeds
from St. Francis Coffee go to help further the great work of the St. Francis Animal
Shelter here in Buffalo. Bucks Star (a little play on words there) profits will go
towards supporting local arts projects through programs sponsored by the Arts Along the
Big Horns regional development group and Art+Works Too.
Bucks Star is named in honor of the late and former (self-appointed sheriff
of Ucross with his stories and humor at the clean and tiny hangout he kept there. Although
coffee was not exactly Bucks favorite drink, it served him well on several occasions
and for this reason - among others - we choose to honor him in this way.
We hope you will come often,
hang out and bring us your creative ideas and energy ... and in this way make Art+Works
Too and the Cowgirl Coffee Cafe an even greater place than we have imagined it could be.
And, if you are just passing through, we hope you enjoy our local flavor and hospitality!
Welcome
Back! Vanessa and all the AW2 Gang
